About Regular Submissions and Special Issues

Journal of Digital Life accepts two types of submissions:

・Regular Submission:
Manuscripts are accepted on a rolling basis and published individually upon acceptance following peer review.

・Special Issue Submission:
Published once a year in March. These issues are based on a specific theme and accept submissions through a structured call for papers. Accepted articles are published sequentially during March, with individual publication dates that may vary by article. All special issues are planned based on themes that fall within the journal’s Aims and Scope.

Editorial Oversight and Peer Review of Special Issues

Special issues may involve guest editors when necessary; however, the Editor-in-Chief serves as the lead editor of all special issues and works closely with the editorial board to ensure consistent editorial policies and peer review processes across the entire journal.

Guest editors are selected based on their expertise and qualifications, and their appointment is approved by the editorial board.

For articles in which the Special Issue Editor (Editor-in-Chief) is listed as an author, the editor does not participate in the review process. Instead, another editorial board member serves as handling editor, and the article is processed under an independent peer review system.

Articles in special issues are subject to the same editorial standards and peer review criteria as regular submissions. Detailed submission guidelines are available in the Instructions to Authors.

Peer Review Process

All submissions undergo a single-blind peer review process.

Accessing Published Articles

The latest articles can be accessed via the “Recent Articles” section on the top page. Each article is clearly labeled with tags such as “Special Issue” or “Article”, making it easy to distinguish between regular submissions and special issue papers.

In addition, the “Publications” menu allows users to browse and search articles by type:
